Fort William CC

I feel I must respond to the outrageous comments of Leg Bye, whoever he may be. As a Cricketer of some vintage who played competitive and friendly Cricket in Hampshire for some years, I can safely say that I have never played within such a vibrant and spirited group of players that we have at FWCC. Two years ago we needed to beat a young and inexperienced Northern Counties to win the Reserve League. Now those NC youngsters are coming on in leaps and bounds, and the boot is on the other foot, and now we are having to find our feet once more. Fort William, on becoming too strong for the Reserve League, were faced with an awkward decision, and that was to apply to join the Senior League, and to keep a presence in the Reserve League to involve new and existing members who otherwise would not have got a game due to the restictions of having only one team. Some of us chose to remain in the Reserve League, me personally feeling that I was no longer able to compete at a higher level. Others felt that they would like to test themselves against better players in the Senior League. In effect, now with two teams, the existing strengths of FWCC were halved, and although there was a good start, results have been poor. There are reasons for that, but I will not use them as excuses. Leg Bye obviously feels that FWCC first team is not fit to be on the same pitch as his arrogant self. Would he have our first team relegated to the Reserve League? What would then be the fate of the existing reserve team now being beaten by emerging teams such as the afore mentioned Northern Counties? Would he have these players drift away from the game because they no longer have the opportunity of regular cricket? With many clubs finding it hard to recruit new players, we at FWCC are proud to be able to field teams in both leagues. I am sorry that we are beneath your personal standards, LegBye, whoever you may be. Our wish is to compete and improve, and provide sterner competion in future, but it will take time. If you do not feel FWCC is worthy of that time, and fellow players in the Senior League are of the same opinion, then I am truly pleased to have chosen to remain in the Reserves. I suppose I should also be envious of your obvious outstanding natural talent that gives you the right to post such an insulting comment. You should be ashamed of yourself, but I don't suppose you are.

Cricket, our passion

If you want to learn a new team sport, cricket should be your choice. Your entire team will have to fight for the same goal and you will learn how to combine your strengths and weaknesses until you will defeat your opponents. Whether you wish to practice this sport for passion or for profit, you will love each moment of your experience.

One of the most complete sports

Cricket players are turned into idols when cricket is seen as a religion. It is actually both a mental and physical game, reason why every cricket enthusiast knows it as a complete sport. In fact, you can lose a cricket game even before the toss if you do not have a great mental condition. The players have to be extremely confident in order to be in shape for the game. They have to put negative thoughts behind and focus on the positive things in their life. But cricket is a physical game as well. It is quite demanding to be captain – you have to place the fielders in the perfect spot in order to stop runs and get a wicket. This is why keeping the personal game intact is quite difficult, as the captain will always have to think of so many things in the same time. But the other players encounter struggles, too, especially if they play this elite sport on a professional level.

Any cricketer has to train a lot until they will push everything to the limit. You do not have time to socialize on http://www.camplace.com. Even great players have trouble every once in a while and they come up to the decision that they cannot stand up to the rigors of multi-day test matches. Fast bowlers have to put nine times their body weight through their foot with every ball they bowl, so it is quite hard to do their job. Even so, they love every minute of concentration and are always eager to come back on field when they are forced to take a break.

Because cricket players have to always maintain their body at the level of fitness required, they are prone to back pain and back injuries. Whether you wish to become an opening batsmen, wicket-keeper, fast bowler, spin bowler or all-rounder, you will have to develop certain skills and make sure you will be the best in your range. Cricket sport will demand good reflexes, stamina, physical fitness, agility, team work and hand-eye coordination.

Based on your skills, strengths and weaknesses, you might play on any of the posts mentioned above. Come at The Rampant Lion to get properly coaching and we will establish together if you are strong enough and with the right constitution to become a cricketer. You might become a legend and you will surprise everyone from Scottish cricket. Yet do not be just a part-timer. Put some efforts into it and, if you will get good enough, you will be able to turn your passion into profit. Start playing cricket and you will soon fall in love with this beautiful sport!
